General Sales Manager
Job Purpose:
To strategically achieve, and strive to exceed all set franchise objectives by developing a highly professional and motivated sales team. To work closely with the Head of Business to achieve maximum profitability from driving all sales opportunities. To work effectively with the dealership team to ensure industry leading standards of customer excellence are achieved and maintained at all times.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities
To achieve, all set franchise objectives and centre standards, including New and Used Volumes, Financial Objectives and Insurance and Finance Penetration Objectives and other objectives set by the Head of Business.
To manage and support their direct reports to ensure maximum profitability is achieved from vehicle, accessory and other product sales.
To ensure all company policy and processes are being implemented and maintained across the departments as set by the Head of Business and wider Group
To Implement and manage a robust lead management process. Focussing on Activity KPIs, NC1 and Demo Conversion.
To work effectively within the dealership team to ensure industry-leading standards of customer care and satisfaction at all times.
To remain compliant with the requirements set out by the FCA in relation to finance and insurance products, ensuring customers are always treated fairly.
Create marketing plans with the marketing resource to ensure we have a consistent volume of conquest and loyal customers entering the business. Ensure that these marketing plans fall in line with manufacturer national and franchise standard objectives.
People Management responsibilities
Maintain a highly competent team by recruiting, inducting, coaching and developing employees
Responsible for the development of all employees within the team including identifying development gaps and working with the Department Manager and the HR department to define methods to fulfil the training needs
Provide direct reports with constructive, regular feedback and development
Effective and appropriate management of any performance and conduct issues that arise within the department in line with company policy, seeking guidance from the HR department.
Management of holiday allocations within the department to meet with company guidelines
Health & Safety
Responsibility to ensure that they have studied all relevant health & safety information and are aware of and working to appropriate company safe systems of work and procedures. The application of some safety procedures may vary slightly depending on the group of people involved or the environment they work in.
Knowledge & Experience:
At least two years’ experience of successfully managing a sales team within the Premium Automotive sector.
A full understanding of all relevant KPI’s within an automotive retail sales environment

Excellent communication skills across all levels and through various mediums
Self-motivated, dynamic and able to motivate others
Strong organisation skills, including delegation and time management
Highly customer focussed and belief in the customer being central to the business
Forward planning and strategic thinking skills
Able to problem solve decisively and under pressure
Strong commercial acumen
Positive, resilient and tenacious mindset
Full, valid UK driving licence
Work Pattern:
44.25 hours per week
Week 1 – Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 18:00
Week 2 – Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 18:00 and Saturday, 09:00 to 13:00 (half day)
Salary: Competitive with OTE of £75,000 per annum
